Rakah Counter — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 May 2026

Rakah Counter respects your privacy by design. Nothing you do inside the app ever leaves your iPhone, unless you explicitly choose to send us an email.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not run servers that receive your data. We do not use third-party analytics. We do not embed advertising SDKs. We do not have user accounts.

What stays on your device

The following data is stored locally on your iPhone and never transmitted anywhere:

This data is removed when you delete the app.

Permissions and what they're used for

Camera

If you choose Camera Mode, the front camera is used to detect when your face approaches the screen during sujood. This uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. Camera frames are processed in memory and discarded immediately. No images or video are recorded, saved, or transmitted. You can revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings → Rakah Counter, or switch to Sensor Mode inside the app.

TrueDepth (face data)

If you select TrueDepth Mode on a Face ID-equipped iPhone, the app uses Apple's ARKit ARFaceTrackingConfiguration API to obtain a single value per frame: the approximate distance between your face and the front of the device. No face geometry, facial features, facial expressions, blend shapes, depth maps, photographs, video, biometric identifiers, or Face ID data are collected, read, stored, or transmitted. The distance value is used only to detect when your head approaches the screen during sujood, in the exact same way Camera Mode does, as a simple proximity signal for counting rak'ahs. Each distance reading is processed in memory and discarded immediately on the next frame. Nothing derived from the TrueDepth API is written to disk, transmitted to any server, or shared with any third party. The TrueDepth API is invoked only while a prayer session is active in TrueDepth Mode and stops as soon as the session ends or you switch modes. You can revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings → Rakah Counter, or switch to Camera Mode or Sensor Mode inside the app.

Location (when in use)

Location is used solely to calculate prayer times for your city. Your coordinates are processed on-device by Apple's CoreLocation framework and the Adhan calculation library. Coordinates are never sent to any server we control. If you decline location access, prayer times default to Makkah.

Children

Our apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because we do not collect data at all.

Third parties

We do not share your data with anyone, because we do not have your data.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised and the new version will be published on this page.
